5月26日，随后飞机几乎在跑道头停下。消防等部门迅速到场处置，27日，机场公安、有乘客说在飞机加速起飞时看到火光，记者从美联航中国客服获悉，美联航UA889航班在首都机场起飞时中断。机上旅客有序通过登机车下机，消防员用水枪喷洒飞机右侧发动机。首都机场采取应急措施，后续工作还在进行中。
